Firm

YHR Partners was organized in 1983 to bring high quality architectural services to the Upper Midwest area. The firm is located in Moorhead, MN and organized as a Minnesota Corporation with three partners having ownership. The firm provides planning and architectural services in the upper Midwest with registrations in MN, ND, SD, MT and WA. Our architectural services include experience with a wide variety of building types, with a specialty in healthcare, education, historic preservation and religious structures.

Leadership

Richard Meier

Richard L. Meier, AIA

Principal/Project Manager

Rich oversees the administration, financial and operations within the office. He leads the production department coordinating drawings both in-house and with consulting engineers, and serving as a project manager and a construction administrator on numerous projects. He has experience with numerous project types and various delivery methods. Rich has a good working relationship with contractors and provides value engineering for projects. Rich served on active duty in Iraq and retired from the North Dakota Army National Guard after 20 years of service. Rich joined the firm in 1993.

Margaret Follingstad

Margaret K. Follingstad, AIA, CID

Principal/Project Manager

Margaret provides leadership for predesign planning, facility programming and design for a variety of projects specializing in higher education, religious facilities, and historic preservation/renovations. Her experience as a project manager encompasses the full range of architectural services with experience in a wide variety of project types including religious, education, historical restoration / replication, corporate, government, hospitality, retail and urban design. Margaret joined the firm in 1990, and later spent 6 years on the west coast designing high-rise mixed use, hospitality, and retail centers prior to returning in 2003. Margaret is active in numerous community organizations including Economic Development Association, several Planning Commissions, and Main Street program

Mark Lundberg

Mark D. Lundberg, AIA, LEED AP

Principal/Project Manager

Mark provides leadership in K-12 educational planning and serves a project manager on a variety of institutional, academic and educational facilities. He has experience with religious facilities and a passion for fine detailing. He is a creative architect with excellent design skills and experience encompassing the full range of architectural services. Mark leads the firm’s efforts in Sustainable Architecture. He is certified by LEED as an accredited professional. Mark has worked to certify one of the state’s first LEED skilled nursing facilities. Mark Lundberg joined the firm in 2003, and is active in a variety of community organizations.

Julie Newman

Julie Newman Rokke, AIA, CID

Project Manager/Principal emeritus

Julie provides leadership in healthcare and K-12 educational planning and design. She is a creative planner, facilitating planning process that provide clients with a long term vision and goals towards securing quality built environments. She leads many of the design efforts in the office and has designed several projects to receive design excellence awards. She is active in many community organizations in long term care, historic preservation and education. Julie has been with YHR Partners since 1985 and is a licensed architect, interior designer and master gardener.

James Welch

James P. Welch, AIA

Project Manager/Principal emeritus

Jim has a key role in providing technical expertise and construction administration service for numerous projects. He has extensive experience in construction documents and specifications and supports quality efforts within the office and leads the estimating team. Jim joined the firm in 1989. He provides volunteer service to the profession, being a past president of NDAIA and is an active volunteer in the community in the Vikingland Kiwanis Club, past-Chairman of the Fargo-Moorhead Area Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Moorhead Economic Development Authority.

Ryan Gran

Ryan D. Gran, AIA

Project Manager

Ryan provides leadership in healthcare planning and design work along with being a project manager on numerous projects making sure that the projects are delivered on time and within budget. He is an innovative designer that engages all participants as a Team to ensure that the client’s vision along with his team’s experience produce successful results. He is active in the long term care, senior housing, and primary care facilities where Improving Environment, Encouraging Community, and Promoting Wellness are key in design. Ryan has been with YHR Partners since 1996 and is a licensed architect.
