This past week, YHR had the distinct privilege of attending the highly anticipated annual American Institute of Architects (AIA) North Dakota fall conference. This event serves as a cornerstone for the architectural community in the region, bringing together professionals from various sectors to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and foster connections. The week was not only productive but also enriching, filled with a diverse range of insightful tours that highlighted innovative designs and sustainable practices in architecture. Additionally, the continuing education seminars offered a wealth of information on the latest trends, technologies, and regulatory changes affecting the industry, ensuring that all attendees left with valuable insights to apply in their own practices.
Each year, YHR submits selected projects to be showcased at the conference, aiming for the chance to receive recognition through awards that celebrate excellence in architectural design. This year, the project submitted for consideration was the Meadowlark Elementary School, a state-of-the-art educational facility located in Fargo, North Dakota. This school has been designed with a focus on creating an engaging and inspiring environment for students, incorporating design that was not only intended to exceed the needs of the faculty and student body but was challenged to reflect the surrounding Rocking Horse Farms neighborhood.

Though the school did not receive an award this year, YHR is proud to announce that our very own Sam Schrader has been honored with the prestigious Intern of the Year Award. This accolade is a significant recognition within the architectural community, as each year, AIA North Dakota selects one outstanding intern who has demonstrated exemplary skills and exceptional dedication essential to the field of architecture. Sam's commitment to excellence, innovative thinking, and ability to collaborate effectively with both peers and mentors have set her apart. Her contributions to various projects have not only showcased her technical abilities but also highlighted her passion for sustainable design and community engagement. Not only did Sam receive this award but she also has completed all the necessary requirements to receive her licensure and make her YHR's newest Architect! Congratulations Sam we are all so proud of your achievements and cannot wait to watch you continue to grow in your career.
